Junior Jags take tourney

The St. Joseph's Jaguars claimed the title at the annual junior girls basketball tournament hosted by Collingwood Collegiate Institute on the weekend, defeating the hosts, 43-38, in the final.
The tournament featured various teams from across the county, including Jean Vanier Catholic High School and Penetanguishene Secondary School.
The Collingwood Fighting Owls got off to a flying start on Friday with a win over Penetanguishene, led by Alia Plesa-Topham's 11-point effort and Shelby Letwinka's eight points.
Collingwood beat Etobicoke Collegiate, 54-27, in the semifinals, with the Fighting Owls' Jenna Machin providing some great rebounding, and Plesa-Topham coming up big again, this time scoring 15 points.
St. Joseph's defeated Huntsville, the tournament favourite, in the other semifinal.
